Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I was not home because I attended 157th Petaling Skills Camp to help out. I went there at around 6 or 7 (can't remember). Dawson was out for his exams so Maverick was in charge. Yu Beng was there before me. We chilled around until 7 or so and then Yee Ying came. Around 7.45, we left for General Meeting at SMKDJ.
Yee Ying drove Yu Beng and me to SMKDJ and then we were 'escorted' to a classroom where the meeting will be held. Friends like Kaili, Suzanne, Wei Liam, Yong Tick, were there. We chatted for a bit and then took our seats and the meeting started. Mr. Ekbert came by and joined our discussion. We talked about Rover activities and such and then it ended around 1o. Yee Ying then drove us back.
There, Raymond, Billy, Li May and of course Dawson were there already. It was way past ice breaking session, the juniors were having their dinner (I think, can't remember well here). I took walks around after changing to muftwo, hang around the urusetias and walked around aimlessly. Yee Ying and Raymond went out to Banana Leaf to buy supper for the Rovers, so they called me and I ordered a teh ais and then after walking some more, I went back to the arena (the urusetia area) and soon enough Yee Ying and Raymond came back. I paid my teh ais and had my 'supper' while marking the junior's Tenderfoot logbooks with Yubs. Darren and Fook Hoy dropped by and left soon after.
Later at night during sleep time, I slept at the arena on a bench but Sean woke me up looking for something and then Idaham (who came by) took over three benches (combined, his fat ass was too big). I walked around to find a cozy place to sleep but couldn't fin any, they either was too cold, had mosquitoes or was uncomfortable. I finally fell asleep back at the arena on the combined bench (Idaham went to the sports storeroom to watch his videos, cough, porn, cough) but I woke up two hours later because it was too cold. Yubs was also awake from the same reason. I got up and walked around trying to get warm and then I found the urusetia sleeping in the hall and I fell asleep there because the mat was comfy and warm. I woke up about half an hour later and went back to the arena. It was around 5 already so I went back to the hall to wake the urusetia up with Sean.
Later the juniors had their morning exercise. I was upset with their performance, they were pretty slacky and did not show any spirit. School soon started, a few juniors (mostly prefects) went to attend Hari Anugerah and went to class, while the smart ones stayed. I went by the kitchen and Yu Feng was cooking instant noodles. She asked if I wanted any and then made one for me. After eating, I headed back to the arena, Yubs had to leave because his mom called and so he left. Raymond and Yee Ying wanted to grab breakfast at Centerpoint so they asked if we wanted any. Dawson asked for a breakfast set at Subway and I decided to follow them because I could not decide on what to eat (wasn't really hungry at that time). We got there and headed to Subway. I wasn't that hungry when we were there so I headed to McDonald's with Yee Ying. Yee Ying could not find what she wanted so she went back. I bought a breakfast set and went back to Subway. Elizabeth was there, guess she skipped school. We then headed back to camp. We had our breakfast and then Yee Ying and Raymond left to buy raw food for the camp's dinner. Dawson later reminded me that I'm to do morning inspection on the juniors. I called along Maverick, Sean and Timothy tagged along. We went round and corrected the juniors' mistakes and warned them about the real morning inspection on Sunday.
The urusetia headed out to finished their commando course for the activity in the afternoon. I hanged around them to help take photos and sort. Yubs suddenly called me and I was summoned to the arena. Turned out Dawson wanted me to taste the juniors' backwoods food. It wasn't bad. In fact, they learned how to cook backwoods better than those in my years of scouting in 157th Petaling. After that, Dawson ordered the juniors to catch sleep so that they will have enough energy for commando course. I went out and checked on the commando course and the urusetia. They finished the course really fast! Dawson kept praising them and then they all were given a chance to try them out themselves. Whoot! They all ran like mad dogs, going course after course. I was going around with Yi Lyn's camera taking shots until Dawson ringed me and I was summoned to the arena. There, Yee Ying, Raymond, Yubs and I were given a briefing on what to do for commando course. We were to station at a course and I volunteered for rope climb, earlier I tried it and I could climb all the way up without stopping or leg brakes, it's all pure arm power! Rawr! Dawson took us around to have a look at all the courses and demonstrated some to show us how it works. At one of the courses, which is smilier to the tire running one, he had difficulties on it because the rule was to not touch the rafia string when stepping. He was telling us how difficult it was until Sean and the urusetia came running towards the course and passed through it easily without changing of speed (they just ran through the course) or making mistakes. We stood there speechless for a while while watching the group run towards another course. Epic fail came to mind.
After we got back to the arena, Dawson woke the juniors up. It started to drizzle and the juniors went to change to shorts. We, including the urusetia went to station at our respective courses. Yee Ying had to leave of a sudden so someone took her place. Some of the urusetia stayed at the kitchen to prepare dinner. For rope climb, out of all the girls, only one girl did it, if only Jo Yee did not have a period she could have done it too.
After all the patrols have passed my station, I headed to the mud pit to help Yi Lyn snap pictures. I love her camera. It can capture fast moving objects like running water in mid-air or splashes of mud water or candid and funny expressions of the juniors! It's so cool! I want her camera. I had my fun and after everybody was done, I headed back to the arena.
Billy and Li May were back and Li May just got back from kitchen helping to prepare spaghetti sauce for dinner. Raymond was out so Yubs and I listened to music with Dawson's laptop.
Night fell and the juniors were getting ready for Malam Kebudayaan. Dawson told Yubs and I to self-service dinner. I decided to wait until all the juniors had taken their food before getting mine. Some parents have arrived and MK was about to start soon. Yubs and I gobbled on our dinner while wearing our uniforms. After that, we sat down and waited for it to start. Max soon came while MK was running.
I didn't understand most of the performances by the juniors. It was either really random or they were too far that I can't hear them. Raymond said that they syok sendiri. Billy and Li May soon got back from where they came from and joined us. The only awesome performances were the dances by the junior patrol leaders, the form four urusetias and the form 5 urusetias which were all dances, the longest being the form 5. After the dances, Max left. Raymond and I were saying how Dawson slimmed down and Max became rounder. Yubs left soon after Max left.
After MK, the step down ceremony begun. First off, Li May, Raymond and Dawson gave out certificates to the urusetias and anyone who deserved them. I was stunned when my name was mentioned because I was not in the troop anymore (I just got off the phone with my dad and after I sat down, Dawson said "Goh Jian-Yong", I was "Hmm... That name sounds so familiar... HUH?!" -Points to myself while looking at Raymond and Billy who were looking back at me-) The junior patrol leaders came out and gave their speeches of appreciation for the form 5s. Then the COH members came out one by one to give their speeches. Kin Yen's was very philosophical, Wei Khai's was normal and Sean's was sad and funny at the same time (he was crying and sniffing while giving his speech which made me wanna cry and laugh but I only laughed and got watery eyes), Dawson then got the old COH and the new COH members to light their candles and before going into passing down stage, Maverick gave his speech. It was really well said and it made me so proud I felt happy instead which means, I did not cry that night! Haha! After that, they did their step down ceremony and then it was over. Some juniors were crying (Jo Yee was most obvious) and others were silent with sadness. After sending the juniors away, we (urusetias and I) got together and we talked for a bit. Maverick said he actually had a lot to say but forgot some stuff, he said he wanted to say that if it was not for his first patrol leader, me, he would not have been the awesome scout he was. I was shocked! I did not know that he was looking up to me because he never showed signs of it and I didn't remember being his patrol leader. It was so many years ago! I tried to remember who was in my patrol when I was a patrol leader back then but I can't remember. Guess I got old.
I went to the kitchen to hang out because I did not plan to sleep at the arena. The junior patrol leaders were there and they were boiling water for coffee to stay awake to build their gadgets. When their coffee was almost finished, they competed to see who gets the remaining coffee and used Yi Lyn who was sleeping as their object of competition, the competition was to put her sunglasses on her face without waking her up. I wanted the coffee and so I put it on for her and I got it. They wanted to compete again but they woke Yi Lyn up and they decided to do something else because I finished the coffee. Jo Yee then made tom yam soup and added tobasco, soy sauce and chili sauce and made Jeremy drink it. He was half asleep when she poured the soup into his mouth. He got up but fell asleep again. I left the patrol leaders alone and talked to Yu Feng. We were chatting until I realised Jeremy got up (Jo Yee tied his shoelaces together) and his way to a table and fell asleep on it. We continued talking until I got really sleepy. I got up and I saw Jo Yee sleeping next to Jeremy. I was too sleepy to think too far and I went to sleep at a bench in the canteen. Boy it was warm there. I fell asleep soon enough.
When I woke up, it was already 9 and word was spreading that Jo Yee and Jeremy were sleeping together on a table. Yu Feng told me that she was there the whole night and it was so funny seeing Jo Yee hugging Jeremy from behind. Jo Yee was kinda frustrated over it and blamed me because I brought it up to the urusetia.
I got into my Rover uniform and proceeded to do morning inspection. It lasted quite long. There were many mistakes. After we were done, I hanged around the arena until I fell asleep on the bench and woke up when the urusetia were filling the center of the arena with water and after I realised that music was blaring. I got up and watched the water game, crab football (a different version of penguin football). After the game, the juniors got ready for istiadat. Dawson briefed Yee Ying, Yu Beng and I about the prize giving and after we were ready, we went for istiadat. Dawson gave out the prizes and stuff and we together gave the best patrol scarfs.
After istiadat, the juniors collected their stuff and started going home. The urusetia started cleaning up the arena. After that, we all sat down and Dawson gave out left over food, then we started talking about Jeremy and Jo Yee. Dawson said that he woke up early in the morning and saw them on the table. He laughed and went back to the arena to tell Sean and Maverick but he fell asleep again after failing to wake them up. The two were telling the truth about not knowing that they slept together and stuff but Dawson made it funny by making it sound wrong. Hahaha.
